an ancient coin; a quarter rupee

Lightning; fortune

with pockets for

a bird.

the horizon

an ancient coin; a quarter rupee

           in honor of

    departed ancestors;

   a sparrow

        snapping          crashing

          fretting and grieving

    bounds

A small earth

     with a broad

harp.

To create this poem, "An ancient coin; a quarter rupee," I blacked-out  an 1899 Kannada-English dictionary. This poem appeared on Found Poetry Frontiers for our "trip" to Bengaluru, India. We were led by poet Shloka Shankar.
